Christmas is Coming…

Monday, November 16th, 2009

I have been very errant in my Another Time postings; part of the reason is that I’ve been traveling so much, and the other part is just plain laziness. Anyway, we have some beautiful items at the shop in time for Christmas; two Hamilton milkshake makers in jadeite green, about 37 different scales, including one beautiful Dayton candy store scale from 1906 (Model 166 for you aficianados. ) It only weighs up to 16 oz., and has been totally refurbished in a deep red.  Our linens and table clothes are abundant and we have some beautiful enameled cake pans. Write, tell me what you’re looking for. I’ve been getting about 10 emails a week from all over the world from people who are looking for a specific item. And, yes, we do ship all over the world. Keep those letters coming. Bill

Traveling Man

Monday, April 27th, 2009

I’ve been a bit tardy with my blogs, but I have been traveling all over the country looking for antiques. Came back with a full 6×12 trailer’s worth, and my pickup absolutely loaded. From Texas to New Mexico, to Oregon, to Montana, to Illinois, to Pennsylvania, and Virginia to home. Have some really neat new items.   Please don’t forget that this coming Saturday is the Shrimp Festival and the Blessing of our fleet. Please try to come. It’s McClellanville’s biggest event of the year. Hope to see you here.

Spring is on the Way

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

I’ve been a bit errant with my notes, but we had a cold spell and Trudy had a pretty serious sciatica operation which is now healing nicely. Anyway, I’ve been in hibernation for a while. It was 72 degrees today in beautiful down town McClellanville, and we smell Spring in the air. The shop is loaded with inventory and the tourists are already back. If you have any needs, comments, or ideas, please write or call and let me know. Stop by if you get a chance. The local oysters are just perfect now and you’ve never tasted real shrimp until you taste McClellanville shrimp. (although out of season now.)

Christmas is Around the Corner

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

We have found some really neat stuff for Christmas. I bought 15 vintage scales in the last month, some really neat linens, tablecloths, etc. Of course we have A Hamilton Beach milkshake mixer. I don’t know when or if we’ll find another one. Trudy has retired and is now operating the shop fulltime. Why didn’t it look so neat and clean while I was running it?  I have a nice 1953 Chevy pickup I got this weekend. Not sure if I’m going to sell or not – 23,000 original miles. Do we ship? Heck, yes. Shipping (all over the world now) is a large part of our business.  Write or call. We have some really neat antique items for Christmas.

Scams, spams, and General Thieves

Monday, September 8th, 2008

During my summer travels this summer, I have found (or they found me) about 12 different dishonest ways to separate me from my money. There is the old “Senegal deal,” the incredibly low prices, the chance to make big money in a month, etc., etc. Please, the old saying still remains true as ever: “If it looks tot good to be true, it probably is. I would be glad to help anyone who has a question on this matter. Just received my certificate as a licensed appraise for the Southeastern Appraisers Society. That will keep me busy for a while. It’s September and hurricane season here. I hope they stay away. Come visit us.

Another Time Updates

Monday, July 28th, 2008

I would like to welcome a new customer from Zimbabwe; I never thought we’d reach out that far.

For Leon in Ruidoso (NM), and anyone else, if any of your friends are interested, I managed last week to obtain two more Hamilton Beach mixers; they are both as near to mint as is possible for a 50-60 year old appliance, and they’re both jadeite (mint green) in color.

We’re a little low on scales right now as a production company (top secret!) has rented nearly all our scales. However, we’ll get them back in August. We’ve gotten a lot of new stuff in that hasn’t been inventoried yet – if you’re up our way, stop and take a look, or just sit on the front rockers and chew the fat. It’s too hot now; time for a siesta.

Diecast Vehicles and Table Linens

Monday, June 9th, 2008

I have never spoken much about it, but we have a large selection of diecast vehicles, from Dale Earnhart’s Indian by Franklin Mint, to some really neat Corgi and First Gear wreckers. If you like to talk full-size vintage American (or foreign) cars, I’ll wear your ear out. Just love them. For the ladies, Trudy has just found some very neat old table cloths and table linens. Come look; you sure don’t have to buy anything, but we’ve got two porches to sit on and shoot the breeze.

Hamilton Beach Milkshake Maker to NM

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

I just sold a Hamilton Beach milk shake maker to a gentleman in Ruidoso, New Mexico today. This was supposed to be in our kitchen, but I just sent it to NM. This was my last one, although I have a line on some of these fine Hamilton Beach makers near Charlotte. Write or call me if you are interested. They sell almost as soon as they arrive.

The weather here has suddenly become “southern-like” with temperatures reaching into the nineties. Perfect
time to visit McClellanville.

And, a hat’s off to Pete, owner and operator of T.W. Graham’s restaurant. His food is outstanding. Only 0pened Thursday through Saturday, with Sunday brunch.

Busy Weekend in McClellanville

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

With 80 degree temperatures, sunny skies, and a gorgeous  South Carolina day, Another Time had the largest crowd in the shop that we’ve ever had this Saturday. Nearly 100 friendly customers passed through our doors. What a blast!! Two frequent questions were: Do we make trades, and will we come to local homes to examine antiques? The answer to both questions is YES. I really like to look at old “stuff,” whether a purchase or trade is made or not. Get on up here next weekend for the Shrimp Festival and the Blessing of our fleet. You won’t be sorry.  Saturday night Bluegrass will be starting soon. Ask me about it.

Free Matchbox Cars

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Speaking of freebies, a kind old gentleman came to the shop this afternoon with a large basket full of Matchbox, Hot Wheels, and other assorted cars, trucks, motorcycles, construction equipment, etc. They belonged to his grown grandchildren and he would not take any money for them. Since he didn’t charge for them, I’m not going to charge for them. Any good little seven year old and under can pick one vehicle of his/her choice free. This offer good till all are gone.
