Cushioned on the west by the Francis Marion Forest and on the east, the Atlantic Ocean, lies the tiny fishing village of McClellanville, just north of Charleston, SC, on Highway 17. We decided to open Another Time, a vintage antique kitchenware shop and build our LAST house there. No high pressure selling, as like the town, we do not want to change anything. The biggest change to McClellanville in the last 100 years is the addition of automobiles - shades of “Gone with the Wind!” We have a shop full of vintage kitchen items that most of us only remember from our childhood. Please stop and see us. We’re on N. Pinckney St., right in the middle of the McClellanville business district,î about a mile off Highway 17. We’d like you to know that we are the only vintage kitchenware (and other stuff) shop in the Southeast. Nearly 90% of our items are original and unavailable anywhere else that we know of.
I have spent years searching for the items we now have in stock, from Pennsylvania Dutch country, to the mountain areas of North Carolina; knocking on doors, searching barns, talking with folks. Please let me introduce ourselves: Trudy is currently a broker of Prudential Carolina Real Estate. Our new house is right behind the shop. I am retired and am currently working at Another Time as my only duty. (the wife has spoken). I am also a licensed Estate Appraiser. Been collecting since age 5 (my granddad bought me a Case pocket knife when I was five (62 years ago) and I still have it. It seems like I have saved everything I ever bought. During our moving process, I have found hundreds of items that I had forgotten I owned. How about a 1932 Tiffany, nickle silver oil can for a Dusenberg SJ? An original Triumph Dealer’s sign? An original 1919 cast iron Mack truck issued by Mack to their top selling dealers? Where did all this “stuff” come from? Anyway, you get the idea.
We have loads of items that there is not enough room here to mention. I’m glad to ship to anywhere in the world at the going postal rate. We never charge any phony “handling” charges or overcharge for shipping.
A facet ot the business that is quickly growing (little did we expect it) is rentals to movie and stage companies. We’ve rented everything from a Vespa motor scooter to a fine silver serving set to a production company in Charleston. We’ve decided to grow this area and it has really exploded. If we don’t have it, we can get it.
If you don’t even like vintage stuff, come to McClellanville and take in the aura of the true old South. You’ll never feel quite the same again. Please stop in our shop and say hello.
